MAGAZINE TITLE

Organized every 3 years, this competition is a result of a 30-year-long tradition in competition organizing. This competition was first known as "Nat Studio Piano Competition". Then, upon the 8th Nat Studio Piano Competition the organizing commitee agreed to transform it into "the First Siam International Piano compeition", making it the initiation of the international legacy. With this competition, we try our best to privde the best environment for all young pianists participating in the competition from the instruments to the members of jury that comes from all around the world.

Nat Studio จัดการแข่งขันเปียโนนานาชาติทุกๆ 3 ปี การแข่งขันนี้ ถึงแม้จะยกระดับเป็นระดับนานาชาติมาได้เพียง 2 ครั้ง แต่ก็ได้เริ่มจัดมาในระดับประเทศมาเป็นเวลากว่า 30 ปีแล้ว โดยเป็นการแข่งขันที่มุ่งเน้นที่จะส่งเสริมศักยภาพการเล่นเปียโนของนักเรียนเปียโนทุกคน และการแข่งขัน Siam International Piano Competition นี้ เราก็พยายามสร้างสภาพแวดล้อมที่ดีที่สุดให้แก่ผู้เข้าแข่งขันทุกคน ทั้งแต่เครื่องดนตรี และสถานที่แข่งขัน ไปจนถึงกรรมการผู้ทรงคุณวุฒิที่มาตัดสินหลายๆท่าน ที่มาจากหลากหลายประเทศทั่วโลก

Objectives

1. To encourage musical competence and raise the international standards of the youth

         

Since 1985, Nat Studio has been determined to encourage musical competence within the youth between the ages of 7 - 18 in order to enhance an outstanding ability in piano performance to international standards. Its ultimate success can be highlighted in its triennial Nat Studio Piano Competition that has been held for the past 26 years. Considering the success of the 8th piano competition in 2006, it is unquestionable that Thai students’ abilities have reached a significantly advanced level. It is possible to expand the competition to wider scope. Thus, the First Siam International Piano Competition was held in 2009

 

2. To popularize H.M. The King’s music

 

In the 2nd round, each contestant will play a compulsory composition by King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great (Rama IX), chosen for each category. By doing so, this will reveal the supreme mastery of His Majesty in the field of composition to the rest of the world. At the same time, it will help young pianists to deeply appreciate the beauty of King Bhumibol Adulyadej's music.

 

3. To promote cultural diversity and friendship among individuals in classical piano music circle

     

We are determined to encourage friendship and hospitality among contestants. We believe that friendship and cooperation sparks all creativity. Not only will it assure the contestants’ comfort and confidence and thus allowing them to perform to their fullest potential, but it will also create a positive impression upon their return to their country. Friendship and cultural diversity will help broaden their horizon thus allowing for further knowledge and understanding of one another. This does not only affect the young contestants, but also parents and teachers as well. Eventually, this may help to significantly spread the interest in piano music to many other youth groups.

 

4. To create individuality in the youth

       

Winning the competition is not the ultimate goal of this event, it is what you achieve through the course of facing your challenges; that is the most important thing. Naturally when each contestant is faced by the harsh reality of winning and losing, triumph and disappointment, one must learn to understand and accept the results, like in sport. One must learn to take advantage of their failure and use it as a tool to encourage themselves to improve for the better.

จุดประสงค์

1 เพื่อส่งเสริมและยกระดับมาตรฐานความสามารถทางดนตรีของเยาวชนในระดับนานาชาติ    

          เนื่องจาก ณัฐ สตูดิโอ มีความมุ่งมั่นที่จะให้การแข่งขันเป็นสื่อในการกระตุ้นให้นักเปียโนรุ่นเยาว์ อายุระหว่าง 7-18  ปี ได้ฝึกฝนความรู้ความสามารถทางด้านเปียโนให้ดีทัดเทียมนานาชาติ จึงจัดการแข่งขันเปียโนระดับประเทศชื่อ การแข่งขันเปียโนณัฐสตูดิโอ ทุกๆ 3 ปี ตั้งแต่ปีพ.ศ. 2528– พ.ศ. 2549  ซึ่งได้ช่วยยกระดับมาตรฐานความสามารถทางเปียโนของเยาวชนไทยเป็นอย่างมาก จากประสบการณ์ในการจัดการแข่งขันเปียโนถึง 8 ครั้ง ทำให้เรามั่นใจว่า เยาวชนไทยมีฝีมืออยู่ในมาตรฐานที่สูงและประเทศไทยเราพร้อมที่จะเป็นเจ้าภาพในการจัดการแข่งขันเปียโนสำหรับเยาวชนในระดับนานาชาติได้ยกมาตรฐานนี้ขึ้นและเปลี่ยนชื่อการแข่งขันเปียโนเป็น การแข่งขันเปียโนนานาชาติแห่งสยาม ( The Siam International Piano Competition ) ในครั้งที่1 เมื่อปี พ.ศ. 2552 ซึ่งประสบความสำเร็จอย่างมาก เห็นได้ชัดจากฝีมือผู้เข้าแข่งขันทุกคน

 

2  เพื่อเผยแพร่พระอัจฉริยภาพของพระบาทสมเด็จพระบรมชนกาธิเบศร มหาภูมิพลอดุลยเดชมหาราช บรมนาถบพิตร ผู้ทรงเป็นอัครศิลปิน

        ในการแข่งขันนี้ ผู้เข้าแข่งขันจะบรรเลงเพลงบังคับ ซึ่งเป็นเพลงพระราชนิพนธ์ในพระบาทสมเด็จพระบรมชนกาธิเบศร มหาภูมิพลอดุลยเดชมหาราช บรมนาถบพิตร ซึ่งจะเป็นการเผยแพร่ถึงพระอัจฉริยภาพขององค์พระมหากษัตริย์ผู้เป็นที่รักยิ่งของชาวไทยออกไปสู่สากล และเป็นโอกาสดีที่จะเปิดเวทีนานาชาติให้แก่เยาวชนไทยรุ่นใหม่ที่ล้วนแต่มีฝีมือทั้งสิ้น           

 

3 เพื่อเสริมสร้างมิตรภาพ แลกเปลี่ยนวัฒนธรรมระหว่างผู้อยู่ในวงการดนตรีคลาสสิค สาขาเปียโน  

          จริงอยู่ที่การแข่งขันจำเป็นต้องตัดสินคัดเลือกผู้มีความสามารถสูงสุดในเวลาที่กำหนดให้ แต่ในฐานะผู้จัดการแข่งขัน เรามุ่งมั่นที่จะให้เวทีนี้เป็นเวทีแห่งมิตรภาพ  โดยทำให้ผู้เข้าแข่งขันรู้สึกเป็นกันเอง มีกำลังใจ มีความมั่นใจในการบรรเลงเพลงได้เต็มศักยภาพ และที่ยิ่งไปกว่านั้นคือการที่เยาวชนได้มีโอกาสเปิดโลกทัศน์ที่กว้างขึ้น ให้ได้พบปะมีมิตรภาพกับเพื่อนๆต่างวัฒนธรรม ซึ่งอาจจะมีเทคนิคการบรรเลงเพลงเปียโนต่างจากเรา จะเกิดการเรียนรู้และจะส่งเสริมให้มีความเข้าใจซึ่งกันและกันมากขึ้น ซึ่งสิ่งเหล่านี้ไม่ได้อยู่เพียงวงแคบของเยาวชนผู้เข้าแข่งขันเท่านั้น แต่จะกระจายออกไปถึงผู้ปกครองและครูผู้สอนอีกด้วย และจะขยายพลังของดนตรี ทำให้ทุกคนเข้าใจความลึกซึ้งของดนตรีมากขึ้น

 

4  เพื่อพัฒนาบุคลิกภาพของเยาวชน 

            ณัฐ สตูดิโอ เชื่อว่าชัยชนะจากการแข่งขันไม่ใช่เป้าหมายที่สำคัญที่สุด ผลที่ได้จากการพัฒนาตนเองต่างหากคือสิ่งสำคัญที่สุด คำตัดสินของคณะกรรมการผู้ทรงคุณวุฒิเป็นเพียงเครื่องชี้ให้เห็นว่านักเปียโนนั้นๆ ได้พัฒนาความสามารถในการดนตรีมาก – น้อยเพียงใด เมื่อเปรียบเทียบกับนักเปียโนรุ่นเยาว์อื่น ๆ ณ เวลานั้นๆ การแพ้หรือชนะ การผิดหวังหรือสมหวังนั้น เป็นสถานการณ์ปกติที่เกิดขึ้นไม่ว่าการแข่งขันใดๆก็ตาม เยาวชนต้องเตรียมพร้อมที่จะเผชิญสถานการณ์ด้วยความเข้าใจ มีน้ำใจเป็นนักกีฬา และเรียนรู้ที่จะนำความรู้สึกของตนนั้นกลับมาเป็นแรงกระตุ้นให้เกิดการพัฒนาความสามารถให้ดียิ่งขึ้นต่อไป

the 5th Siam International Piano Competition 2024

  • Date of Registration​​

The close date of the registration will be April 30th at 23.59 hrs. You can apply now via our application form. ​

  • Eligibility

The Competition is open for pianists of any nationality from the age of 7-16 years old.

  • Age groups

The competition will only accept contestants according to their appropriate age group category without exception.

 

Age of the contestants is based on the deadline of the video submission for the preliminary round of the competition which is May 18th, 2024.

​

1. Category A      7 – 9 years old (born between May 19th, 2014 - May 18th, 2017)

2. Category B      10 – 12 years old (born between May 19th, 2011 - May 18th, 2014)

3. Category C      13 – 16 years old (born between May 19th, 2007 - May 18th, 2011)

 

  • Competition Format

The 5th Siam International Piano Competition consists of two rounds:

(1) Preliminary round (Online Video submission) Only contestants who earn "Distinction Award" in the Preliminary Round will be accepted into the Final Round.

(2) Final round (Live Performance).

 

• The Final round will be held at Sala Sudasiri Sobha from June 27th - July 1st, 2024.

• The Final round is open to public without any admission fees. However, donations towards "Sala Sudasiri Sobha Funds for Young Thai Talents" are highly appreciated.

• Photography and all recordings are not permitted throughout the competition

  • Rules for the recording of the Preliminary Online Video round.​​

    1. The face and the total body (including the hands) must be clearly visible in the Audition video.

    2. The video must be an unedited performance of all pieces for the preliminary round recorded live in one take.

    3. Upload the video on YouTube as an unlisted video and paste the URL link in our online application form

    4. The audition video can be recorded on either a Grand piano or an Upright piano. Electronic Piano is not allowed.

    5. Contestants must submit a video of their performance and the music score via our online video submission form (which will be sent to all contestants after the close date of registration on May 1st, 2024) before May 18th, 2024. Any video that submit after 23.59 hrs. of Thailand Local Time (GMT +7) on Friday May 17th will not be accepted.

    6. There will be 3 types of certificates awarded in the Preliminary Round (For all categories): Distinction, Merit & Certificate of Participation. Only contestants who earn the Distinction award will be accepted into the Final Round.

 

  • Practice Sessions

All finalists will be assigned a slot of practice time for the final round prior to their starting time. A room will be assigned to each participant to warm up on the day of the competition solely by the staffs of the competition.

 

  • All pieces must be performed from memory

All participants must perform all the required pieces of their repertoire from memory in both rounds.

 

  • Results

The decision of the jury members is final and will not be subjected to question, review, or appeal.

  • Award Ceremony

All Finalists are required to attend the Award ceremony without exception.​​

​

  • Prizes​

 Category A:

  1st Prize: Cash award of 10,000 THB

  2nd Prize: Cash award of 8,000 THB

  3rd Prize: Cash award of 6,000 THB

​

 Category B:

  1st Prize: Cash award of 20,000 THB

  2nd Prize: Cash award of 12,000 THB

  3rd Prize: Cash award of 8,000 THB

​

 Category C:

  1st Prize: Cash award of 30,000 THB

  2nd Prize: Cash award of 20,000 THB

  3rd Prize: Cash award of 10,000 THB 

​

  • Registration Fee

  Category A:

   Preliminary Round: 2,500 THB 

   Final Round: 4,500 THB

​

  Category B:

   Preliminary Round: 2,800 THB

   Final Round: 5,000 THB

​

  Category C:

   Preliminary Round: 3,200 THB

   Final Round: 5,500 THB

*Violating any of the competition's rules and regulations will result in contestant's disqualification from the competition and will not be eligible for the certificate of participation.

Repertoire - Category A (Age 7-9 Years Old)

Preliminary round (Online Video Audition): 3 pieces, total duration must not exceed 6 minutes.

 

  1. Choose one piece by J.S. Bach.

  2. Choose one Study (Étude).

  3. One piece free of choice.

 

Final round (Live Performance): 3 pieces, total duration must not exceed 8 minutes.

    • Mozart: Sonata in C major, K.545

  3. One piece free of choice or any piece from the Preliminary round.

  1. Choose one of Two-part Inventions by J.S. Bach: EXCEPT No.1, No.4 and No.8

  2. Choose one Study (Étude).

  3. One piece free of choice.

 

Final Round: 3 pieces, total duration must not exceed 10 minutes.

  2. 1st movement from any Classical Sonata.

  3. One piece free of choice or any piece from the Preliminary round.

Repertoire - Category C (Age 13-16 Years Old)

Preliminary round (Online Video Audition): 3 pieces, total duration must not exceed 10 minutes.

  2. Choose one Study (Étude).

  3. One piece free of choice.

 

Final Round: 3 pieces, total duration must not exceed 15 minutes.
